Lalu Yadav has removed his son, Tej Pratap, from the party and family following a dispute over a viral post.
On Saturday, Tej Pratap shared that he has been in a 12-year relationship with Anushka Yadav, revealing their love story to the public.
Lalu Prasad Yadav, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), kicked his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, out of the party for six years on Sunday. He said Tej Pratap’s behavior was irresponsible and didn’t match the family’s values or public decency.

This happened after Tej Pratap, who is 37, posted on Facebook about being in a 12-year relationship with Anushka Yadav. Later, he claimed his account was hacked and the photos were edited to harm his and his family’s reputation.
In a social media post, Lalu, a former Bihar Chief Minister, said that ignoring moral values in personal life hurts the party’s fight for social justice. He stated that Tej Pratap’s actions didn’t align with the family’s traditions, so he was being removed from both the party and the family. Lalu made it clear that Tej Pratap would have no role in the party or family for the next six years.
"He knows the difference between right and wrong and understands the pros and cons of his own life. Anyone who wants to be involved with him should make their own decision. I’ve always supported the idea that people should be publicly shamed in public life. The respectful members of the family have accepted and followed this idea. Thank you," he said.
